Hive Minds
Installation inspired by the collective intelligence of animals. | 2012
Hive minds, is an art installation designed and build based on collective intelligence studied in animals. Biomimicry, was a research theme, in order to understand and abstract behavioural patterns of animals into a physical manifestation. The research was based on studying the movement of a spider.

The design was then translated into a physical model which was used as a reading space within a library. The installations dynamism allowed for it to completely shut into a single stack, then slowly opening out to create smaller reading nooks and book storage spaces.

As a part of a team of 4, we collectively, worked to experiment with materials and mechanisms to create a useable model. Furthermore, procured and built the installation within 2 weeks.
