Tyre Pla(y)ce
Up-cycle and pla(y)ce making for Village schools | 2019
I adopted the Play(ce) making project on behalf of Sparsh Foundation, where-in we visited several villages to understand how kids behave with the limited resources and play spaces. Upon observation and with information from interviews, we noticed that if given a dedicated space, not only kids, but even the adults would begin to break barriers and blurred boundaries between different castes within communities. These spaces were also looked at as 'memory makers', which is very important for the happiness of a growing child. We used 'used car tyres' to develop these spaces as the serve no better purpose other than filling land-fills, which are often outside the city and close to the semi-rural areas visited.
